Positives: Nice display of mining and minerals in NC, free, nice bathrooms.
Great stop. Interesting info..
Negatives: It’s just a small museum about rocks. :)
This is worth a short stop if you are in the area. If you are interested in rocks, minerals and mining in North Carolina then it is worth a slightly longer visit. The museum is small but has a nice display room featuring rock/mineral samples, a history of mining in the area, a small gift shop and nice bathrooms. Outside there are several large rock/mineral samples which are labeled. Our family doesn’t typically like museums but we enjoyed browsing around for about 20-25 minutes, and it’s free!
Small but packed with interesting displays of local minerals/gems and historical facts. Note - bring an interest in minerals as that is the focus of 95% of the exhibits.
It was very interesting. They was have some sort of history fair very cool
Good information. GREAT interactive exhibitions
