Great cleaners.... Always careful with my clothes. Very friendly staff!
If any of you drop off items to be cleaned or altered here and you pre-pay, MAKE SURE you ask for a receipt and hold on to it tight. I dropped off 3 pairs of uniform trousers to be altered and paid $24.00 when I dropped them off. I had called the day before and the owner told me the price was $8.00 per pair. I said ok and dropped them off the next day. They do not accept credit or debit cards so I paid cash. He wrote down their number on the back of a business card and I was told I could pick them up at the end of the following week. I went in to pick them up today and he said "ok that will be $24.00". I told him that I was 100% sure that I had pre-paid for the alterations. He argued with me that I had not. I did not want to cause a big scene but I told him numerous times that I was certain I had paid in advance. It was either leave my husbands uniform trousers there or pay AGAIN. So.....unfortunately I had to pay double for the alterations. $48.00 TO HAVE THREE PAIRS OF PANTS HEMMED......I will take my business elsewhere and I advise you to do the same. Also, I just looked at a review of this place on yelp and the customer on there said he was asked to pre-pay. When I was arguing with the owner today telling him that I'd already paid he told me that he never takes any money in advance.....well the other horrible review on yelp proves that they do ask you to pre-pay. Trust me.....go somewhere else because you will be ripped off if you go to Spruce Pine Cleaners. Also....the place is filthy.
A lot of their machines are broken. I met up with my friend here and the machine she used didn't even wring out her clothes all the way. She had to dry them for an extra half an hour. It doesn't seem like they maintain the place very well and it's dirty.
I dont go here anymore. Bad attitudes about their broken machines. Filthy.
The biggest reason that I love this place is because my father worked there for years and was part owner of it so I was told. I was there 2 weeks ago taking pictures of the building and I took a pic of the window where his press was, it was as if I could hear him whistling as he worked just like he did 52 years ago. Oh the memories it brought back, those were the happy days of a little girl's life.
